A couple of years ago, about 2009, I was looking for a good KDE/Qt KVM manager, I found none so I decided that I could learn C++ and Qt to make one based on libvirt virtio and KVM. After a short while I found kemu and contacted the author to join forces.
Kemu is written in Ruby and the author accepted some ideas and shared my views about using libvirt and how to improve existing code.
So I decided that I needed to learn Ruby in order to contribute but I never found time to do that. My contribution never started, leaving ideas and feedback aside. After some more time I found out about Aqemu, which is a GUI for both Qemu and KVM. This software has it all and it’s lean and clean. Fast too. It’s written in C++ and Qt.
Long story short: why do I have to reinvent the wheel when Aqemu is already that good?
In the near future, Kernel Hackers will also shape some more interesting things for KVM and virtualization, let’s what happens and if the above mentioned project will follow or lead innovations coming from our truly.
