I will occasionally stream live from my place, you will be able to listen to my IceCast streaming from this section. I’ll notify it on the main blog when I’ll stream live.
my equipment:
You can read about my equipment if you like. I also make some considering about my personal views/choice about software and hardware.
a little about me:
I’m not really a musician, I do it mainly for fun and personal pleasure. But since we are living the Glocalization era and since I truly believe in Copyleft, I share my muzik here.
I started back in 97 with computer music when I met Emo and the Mi.S.Fu but I used to play drums in a band with friends back in 93. We were playing boring blues and funk cover songs. The Mi.S.Fu. experience has been one of my best music things. We did quite a few gigs together, the most important have been the HackIt 99 and the SmartBrainArt happenings back in 99 at the old arts and social centre self managed house “Deposito Bulk” in Milan.
After a long period of, to say the least, no ongoing creativity, in 2008 I started to make music again. I use GNU/Linux as my one and only operating system and I’m discovering the audio software for this OS. I must say that I didn’t expect it had so many software. I tried so many times to run FT2 on Linux without success but luckily for all of us THE best tracker ever has landed some time ago to Linux too: Renoise!!!!
I’m mostly a tracker person since I like the tracker way and that old-fashion mod music and sounds. I do like a lot listening and making drones and experimental music. I also play the didjeridoo since 97. In Q4 2009 I bought some MIDI equipment and I’m studying MIDI by myself with the aid of a really good book. I must say that I like the idea of MIDI and how it is implemented and how it works.
The real reason of me going toward MIDI is not to be locked in in any kind of hardware from which I cannot extract my music easily. So I bought all mute equipment that will sound with software I use on Linux (of course I’m prepared to incompatibility issues and the likes). The most important aspect is that the sounds, the patterns and “scores” will always be in the software on my PC. The hardware will be only to make things up.
I really believe in the power of Copyleft and even almost started my own radio show few years ago (about mid 2005) where I wanted to air only Creative Commons music. In that time I’ve also created a forum (called Boh’s Silent Revolution) to publish anything arty and copyleft; think it as a Jamendo for “all” copyleft art forms.
Unfortunately the server crashed and I had no backup. Beside this, the guy who gave us hosting and domain for free disappeared. So I never got it back and after a while Jamendo started so I felt no need to get BSR up again.
All of my music is Free (both as in Freedom and as in gratis) and is licensed under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 3.0 Italy. I usually publish my music on Jamendo. Jamendo offers a good place to publish your creations and it also has a good commercial program, all you need to do (at least to start being exposed) is to expose this little certification:
Anyway don’t expect much of a quality. (Unless of course you share my personal taste :P)
Please read the Legalese section for more informations.
Of course you can donate via Paypal if you feel like it.
You can’t think of me as a soulful ego in a strange world.
Enjoy it
